Following Paul’s only pro loss, a split-decision defeat to Tommy Fury last year, he turned his attention to his bread and butter: MMA opponents. Paul soundly defeated Nate Diaz in August and then announced he would begin to develop his skills the ol’ fashioned way with bouts against “real boxers.”

The American former boxer Mike Tyson has four tattoos of note. Three—at least two of them prison tattoos —are portraits of men he respects: tennis player Arthur Ashe, Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, and Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong. The fourth, a face tattoo influenced by the Māori style tā moko, was designed and inked by S. Victor Whitmill in 2003. Tyson associates it with the Māori being warriors and has called it his “warrior tattoo”, a name that has also been used in the news media.

“Honored to have @miketyson grace our small town academy, @verdevalleybjj . His Training Camp for @jakepaul vs @miketyson began under our roofl,” Keenan wrote on Instagram alongside a pic of him with his arm around Tyson, with the singer’s wife, Lei Li Keenan, on the other side. “Gonna be bragging about that for a bit. Long after y’all are tired of hearing about it. Deal w it,” Keenan added. A second shot featured Tyson and Keenan posing in the middle of the gym floor.

Zhang was the WBO interim world haveyweight champion until losing to Parker in March by majority decision. The 40-year-old had previously defeated Joe Joyce in back-to-back fights in 2023 and now looks to get back to winning ways.

Of his 24 career victories, 19 came by way of knockout, box securing Zhilei’s reputation as a fierce puncher. Despite having no total title wins or title fight KO wins to his name, Zhilei’s fights continue to draw significant attention and admiration from boxing enthusiasts worldwide.

Of course tattoos can be copyrighted. I don’t think there is any reasonable dispute about that. They are not copyrighting Mr. Tyson’s face, or restricting Mr. Tyson’s use of his own face, as the defendant argues, or saying that someone who has a tattoo can’t remove the tattoo or change it, but the tattoo itself and the design itself can be copyrighted, and I think it’s entirely consistent with the copyright law.

The more George watched, the more he liked. Zhang had size, sure. But he also had speed. Athleticism. Slashing power. After the meet, the Chinese coaches invited George to a camp in the Poconos. “They liked my philosophies,” says George. With the 2010 Asian Games around the corner, the coaches asked George to come to Beijing to work with their top prospects.

China’s Zhang, 41, connected with a perfectly timed counter right hook that spun Wilder in a daze. With Wilder defenseless, Zhang (27-2-1, 21 KOs) sprinted in and smashed him with another right hand that planted the American hard on the canvas.

Sharing his thoughts after the weigh-in, Zhang revealed his admiration for Saudi Arabia’s capital on his second visit to the country. “The climate and surroundings here in Riyadh have far exceeded my expectations,” he noted, adding, “We’ve adjusted well to the local environment after our arrival.”

In 2022, Paul co-promoted with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano billed as “For History”. It was the first women’s boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden, and was described as the ‘biggest women’s fight of all time’. The fight was universally acclaimed, being named Fight of the Year by Sports Illustrated and Event of the Year by The Ring.

Zhang later found out various errors in his preparations. During his one-week COVID-19 quarantine in Miami before the bout, the hotel provided him only two meals a day. Unfamiliar with Miami’s high humidity, Zhang’s water intake during his stay at hotel was insufficient and he suffered from severe dehydration. Compounded by a drop in fitness from staying in the hotel during quarantine, he lost 9 pounds. Zhang had been unconcerned with his weight loss since it was not an issue in the unlimited weight class. His doctor also concluded that his excessive consumption of Chinese tea during training was partially responsible for his iron-deficiency anemia. When Zhang was discharged from hospital, his first words to his managers were the Chinese idiom, fang hu gui shan, lit. “a tiger let go would come back at the village hard”, referring himself as the tiger. Since then, Zhang hired a nutritionist, quit smoking and has stayed away from tea during training and in the immediate run-up to boxing matches.

He has yet another portrait of Che Guevara on his left abdomen. It is a copy of the famous Guerrillero Heroico photograph. Tyson got it in prison as well, as he was deeply mistrusting of his state and current government back then. Additionally, Kid Dynamite has a portrait of Monica Turner on the left forearm and a Dragon tattoo on his right forearm.

Zhilei Zhang, who turns 40 next month, is closing in on a shot at Oleksandr Usyk’s WBO world heavyweight titles, after pulling off an upset sixth-round technical knockout win over Joe Joyce on Saturday.
